By request, I'm finally posting the video of Luke's first attempt at solid food. He's a FAST learner; the second time I fed him cereal he opened his mouth like a pro and actually ate the whole bowl. Even the teachers at his school were amazed at how well he did with the cereal! (I told you his is gifted.) He has since graduated to sweet potatoes. Next up, carrots!
I'm also posting a video of Luke on his playmat "double fisting" two toys. You've got to appreciate his concentration and determination!
Finally, I'm including a video of our little man in his exersaucer. Boy was I excited when we bought that for him! I won't soon forget how it came in about 50 pieces that took us (ok, David) a couple of hours to put together. I got a glimpse of what Christmas Eve's will be like from here on out.
My little baby is getting so big! We haven't weighed him in a while but lately he just feels heavier. He's also developing faster and faster. He can now sit up with very little assistance. I don't think it will be too long until he can sit on his own! He's also close to rolling over. While I'm happy to see his development, I'm terrified of when he becomes mobile. I'm already completely exhausted most of the time. (He better be sleeping through the night by then!!)

Happy Valentine's Day
Ever since I went back to work I've been slack about taking pictures of Luke. This past week I made an effort to get back to it. I have a lot of new pictures to share, so get ready!
Last weekend we bought Luke a new stroller. It must be comfortable because he keeps falling asleep in it when we go for walks!

The pacifier used to be my ticket to freedom, but lately Luke's just not into it, preferring instead to suck on his hand, shirt or stuffed toy. However, last week he did manage to get the pacifier in his own hand and in his mouth. It's funny how something so simple as this is just amazing to me. This little creature who just 4 months ago couldn't even open his hand is now using it to put a pacifier in his mouth! He is gifted:)

Luke is finally starting to sit in the bumbo seat that Santa gave him for Christmas! We love seeing him sitting up in his little seat. Mostly because it's just so darn cute. It's also nice to have one thing for him that doesn't require a small fortune in batteries!

Lately, nights have been a bit rough. (Translation- he's waking up 3 times a night most nights.) A few times we've put Luke in bed with us out of desperation. It's not my favorite thing to do because I don't get much sleep (for fear of rolling over on him), but cuddling with him in bed is just priceless. And, when he wakes up and sees me next to him his face lights up and my heart just melts. As you can see in the following pictures, Luke is already taking after his dad.
We had a very nice first Valentine's Day with Little Man! We kicked off the "holiday" with a casual breakfast out. There's a picture below of Luke sitting on his Daddy's lap at breakfast. A woman at a nearby table commented that it was nice to see such a happy family and proud father. I'm not big into Valentine's Day, but now that we have Luke it means something different to me. I look forward to making Luke's Valentine's Days special.
Here's Luke back in his bumbo seat hanging out in the kitchen. He looks so tiny up on the counter! Look at how his feet are kicked out; he's psyched to be on the counter! (Ok, he's excited because the tv was on... we really need to turn that thing off!)
Luke's cousin, Leah, gave Luke this blue hippopotamus blanket when he was born, and he recently starting using it to sooth himself. It's his favorite new toy!

Today was a rough day. Luke threw up or spit up after every single meal and was very fussy and sleepy. We're not sure what's going on, but I cannot help but wonder if the cheese and chocolate fondue- not to mention champagne- from last night are to blame. (Bad mommy!!) Here's Luke passed out (for 90 minutes!) on Daddy's chest.
How can you resist this face?!?
Solid food! We fed Luke rice cereal today for the first time. As expected, most of it went on his bib, but I thought he did a great job for his first time. His face says it all:

12 lbs 14 oz!
Little man had his 4 month doctor's appointment today. He now weighs a whopping 12 pounds and 14 ounces (a little over the 10th percentile) and is 23.75 inches long (a little over the 25th percentile). He also got his second round of immunizations. This time, we were prepared and started him on Tylenol before his appointment. So far so good... though the shots themselves this time were worse. He actually bled a lot from the shots, which sucked. (Bye bye favorite t-shirt.) Anyhow, the doctor said that everything looks really good! He's in great health:)
Daycare is going well. Yesterday when I picked Luke up he was in his bouncy seat next to the new baby in her bouncy seat and was just looking around at all the other children, content as can be. It really warmed my heart to see him happy there. (Is that enough emotion, Jess?!?) In fact, every time I pick Luke up I feel more and more comfortable with his school. The teachers are great, and he seems to really be getting along well there. Of course, the teachers could just be telling me what I want to hear, but they really do rave at how well he does. He seems to do better the more chaotic the environment!
We've finally stopped swaddling Luke at night. He kept busting out of the swaddler during the night which was scary because we worried it would cover his face. However, we have been hesitant to stop swaddling him because at 2 months it had been the ticket to better sleep. Alas, that ticket stopped working because for the past month he's been waking up 2, sometimes 3 times a night. So, we decided to ditch the swaddler. It was the right move. He still wakes up 2, 3 times night but now we no longer worry about suffocation! I think part of the reason he's not sleeping well is because of a lingering cough from cold #1 and a runny nose from cold #2. (Thanks, daycare.) Hopefully when he feels better (in June when I'm home full-time) sleep will improve.
Have I mentioned that Luke is starting to laugh? The following video captures his laugh, which is the sweetest sound I have ever heard. Unfortunately, to hear this amazing sound you'll have to endure two things: 1) the sound of my annoying baby talk (which I keep trying to stop doing but somehow cannot seem to) and 2) a shaky camera since it was my dancing that was making him laugh and I was holding the camera. Here ya go:
And lastly, here's Luke taking a bath:

4 Months Old!
Little Man is 4 months old today! Where has the time gone? We were in the grocery store this afternoon and saw another couple with a tiny, newborn baby, and it made me nostalgic for when Luke was a little peanut. Sigh. He's growing up!
Speaking of which, here are the new Bear shots:

Month 4 was an eventful month! Here are some of his new developments:
Luke can now grasp objects with his hands; is getting better at belly time; can sit in the bumbo seat for a few minutes without crying; still loves bath time and can now make even bigger splashes; is sleeping worse at night than during month 3 (!); LAUGHS; had his first cold; loves dancing with Dad around the house; sleeps in his crib at night; goes to daycare; "talks" a lot; likes his bouncy seat more than his swing; loves zerberts; is easier to take on errands; went to 3 parties in January; doesn't really love the pacifier anymore; loves putting his hands in his mouth until he gags himself; drools; is much stronger; likes to put weight on his legs; smiles a lot; and is still losing hair.
It's true what people say... he keeps getting more and more enjoyable.
